The Geo-Enabled Dashboard Project for Strengthening WASH Regulatory Systems

Building on efforts of the Global Call to Action Coalition on Strengthening WASH Regulatory Systems, a member of the Water Youth Network [Faith A.O.] ideated a model for strengthening WASH Regulatory Data Systems.

The model involves data sharing between a country’s corporate registry and a WASH regulatory body to enable geo-mapping of all WASH service providers towards better inclusive planning, monitoring, regulation, support and policy development.

Through a partnership with the Water Youth Network, the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) is leading the effort to explore this opportunity to drive development, not only in Lagos state, but also as a replicable template for other nations to benefit (both organizations being core partners of the WASH-Reg-CtA).

Through high level advocacies, stakeholder workshops and web development processes – the project will secure buy-in, design features and sustainable protocols, as well as develop the geo-dashboard platform.

An implementation research component will also be undertaken towards the development of a best practice guideline to inform global replication – facilitated through a partnership with the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development (CELD).

Project initiation meetings have kick-started with extensive deliberations that have helped unpack and examine the principles of the model, build consensus and buy-in, as well as align goal and strategy.

Proudly, the project has won a nomination to the UNESCO Water Youth Dialogue Showcase for innovative Youth-led projects, and remains open to value-add partnerships and support from development actors across the globe.
